Ill-tempered delinquent Kylie Bucknell is forced to return to the house she grew up in when the court places her on home detention. Her punishment is made all the more unbearable by the fact she has to live there with her mother Miriam - a well-intentioned blabbermouth who's convinced that the house is haunted. Kylie initially dismisses her mother's superstitions as nothing more than a conscious distraction from a life occupied by boiled vegetables and small-town gossip. However, when she too becomes privy to unsettling whispers, strange bumps in the night and a creepy teddy with a penchant for inappropriate small talk, she begins to wonder whether she's inherited her mother's overactive imagination, or if the house is in fact possessed by a hostile spirit who's not particularly thrilled about her return. englanti I was surprised that such a film was made by creators from New Zealand. The setting didn’t suit the story very well. The only place where you could find proper haunted houses for this purpose might be old England. Here, the woman in the lead role annoyed me terribly from the beginning, which was probably on purpose. In any case, the plot did not salvage anything, so the only thing I had left to watch was the filmmaking itself, which was fortunately not that bad. ()

englanti "Housebound" is completely different from Peter Jackson's early career films, but at the same time, it is a movie that continues the excellent tradition of New Zealand horror films that are interesting, entertaining, and different from others. They go their own way, and that's great. In their case, it has definitely paid off, and the film "Housebound" is a very pleasant surprise, made with great professionalism. ()
