Psevdonim: Lukač

This film made in Hungarian-Soviet co-production recounts the last phase of life of the writer and freedom-fighter Zalka Máté, the legendary general Zalka of three generations, i.e. his years in the Spanish Civil War. 1936. Luigi Gallov, general Belov and other internationalists are fighting in the volunteering International Brigade under the leadership of commander general Lukács. In spite of the lack of coherence among the anarchists and the enormous power of the enemy, they manage to defend Madrid against the attack of the Fascists. In 1937, the leadership of the army accepts the general's proposal for an operation in Aragonia, yet as a result of unsubdued conflicting interests his division has to defend Huesca by themselves. Lukács does not live to see the final defeat of his division; the day before the attack, on patrolling his troops, he is killed by a bullet of the enemy. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)
