After the death of a newborn in the care of nurse Lucia, accusations start to pile up that she intentionally caused the death of several children and older patients. The investigators find proof in her diary entries, strange coincidences, and her detached behaviour. Lucia is sentenced. Yet there are people, led by young Mette, who believe in her innocence, and that a terrible judicial error has happened. The feature film, based on real events that captured the immense attention of the media as well as the general public in the Netherlands, follows the protagonists of the case for several years and dramatizes Lucia's story into a psychological thriller about the search for truth.
