The visit of the Pope does not bring heavenly moments to all of Berlin’s inhabitants. The youth of the streets, policemen as well as taxi-drivers try to find their place in life during one night. In the times when Lola ran for life, Andreas Dresen also offered his version of modern German film through three short stories. Problems of the people on society’s edge are presented by the spectator who does not judge nor psychoanalyze; yet his vision does not lack humor and humanistic sensitivity. Even in his early work, Dresen employs improvisation and opens social issues overlooked by German cinema so far. (Febiofest)
