Interlude

In its graceful motions, the lookdown, a silver fish with a dark stripe on top, leaves its imprint on the black-and-white film, looking as if it had been drawn in contrasting textures. The choreography of the schools of fish shifts from a clear white to an impenetrable darkness, with bunches of seaweed creating a tangle of obstacles. This small, visually precise sketch was created to the music of the Manyfingers.
The frame is filled with bubbles, points on the film’s emulsion, as we enter an environment in which fish rest or slowly swim before diving into the dark depths below. (Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival)
