At the turn of the 1990s, Hal Hartley was one of the people forming American independent film. In this respect, Trust is one of his most famous works. This original rendering of a melodrama about two outcasts shows what is typical for Hartley's directing: theatrical acting, elegant visual compositions and polished screenplay full of poignant sarcasm - and sensitive poetics with deeper socially-critical dimension at the same time. englanti This is such a strange film, but it easily gets under your skin with its well-written, realistic yet caricatured characters. It's not a slapstick comedy, but it's all so cleverly turned upside down that you simply have to laugh. Or maybe leave the film disgusted. I enjoyed it. ()
