A bondman Ivas is sent by his owner to Caucasus as a soldier, and his fiancée is sold to bawdy-house. Being influenced by revolutionist Gavrilov, who has been reduced to the ranks, Ivas becomes class conscious fighter. When the hero comes back to his native land he initiates peasant's rebellion.
