Poland, 1990. The winds of change are blowing in Poland. The first euphoric year of freedom, but also of uncertainty for the future. Four apparently happy women of different ages decide it's time to change their lives, fight for their happiness and fulfill their desires. Agata is a young mother, trapped in an unhappy marriage, who seeks refuge in another, impossible relationship. Renata is an older teacher fascinated with her neighbor Marzena - a lonely former local beauty queen, whose husband works in Germany. Marzena's sister Iza is a headmistress in love with the father of one of her students. (Matchbox Films)

englanti 51st KVIFF - loads of full frontals, and most of them aren’t pretty. Neither is the film. Concentrated depression about loneliness, not love. ()

englanti 51st KVIFF – I don’t know what to think about this movie. It tells the story of three women, each longing for a slightly different kind of love. But every time their story starts and becomes interesting, the director brutally cuts it off and never returns to it. The first story was the most interesting and then it had a downward trend. I had to try really hard to watch until the very end. However, I must admit that the camerawork was excellent. Unfortunately, it films the environment of an absolutely gloomy Polish housing estate located in the middle of a snowy field in the winter, which doesn’t exactly help. The poster for this movie is, I would say, all-telling. ()

englanti I have many reservations about it (mainly the predictability and the 1990s structure), but Mutu's hypothermic visual, intense acting and work with detail (and what remains out of the cut) elevate it to an interesting reflection of the era of transformation that can capture the gray poetics of a place on the border of sacrament and corporeality, past and future. #kviff2016 ()

englanti A film about what love, lust, desire, or whatever you want to call it, can actually do to us. In this aspect, the film is interesting, but perhaps even more fascinating are some of the filters used or what it depicts. The nudity here is presented so naturally that I stared. I liked the film very much in that respect. ()
