After a break up, Jenny moves in with writer Kelly, her filmmaker husband, and their child. Despite a rocky start, Jenny's influence helps Kelly realize that an evolution in her life, career and relationship is necessary for her happiness. A budding novelist and her film director husband, Kelly and Jeff and their two-year-old son live a peaceful existence in Chicago. But when Jeff's irresponsible younger sister, Jenny, comes to live with them after a breakup, things start to change. Jenny begins a rocky relationship with a baby sitter-cum-pot dealer, Kevin, and she and a friend, Carson, instigate an evolution in Kelly's life, as her career and her relationship with her husband begin to grow in new directions. Some time ago, I had a feeling that it's absolutely wonderful to watch a movie where actors play in a natural, human way. And that's exactly what actors in the movie "Happy and Merry" are trying to do, which is nice on one hand, but on the other hand, it was sometimes so annoying to me that I didn't even want to watch it. Among other things, because it's really a movie about nothing.
