The Dinner

Former teacher Paul and his caring wife Claire join ambitious brother Serge and his wife, Babette, for a "friendly" dinner in a posh restaurant. Behind the small talk, we sense an undercurrent of some  much deeper problem involving their teenage children who are not as innocent as their parents believe.  Menno Meyjes directed and wrote the screenplay for this film and has also worked on several films with Steven Spielberg (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, among others). The film was adapted from a Herman Koch novel, which criticizes the hyprocrisy of society and denounces everything from politics to education. (Days of European Film)
