Gwendolyn Shepherd is a normal 16-year-old teen, but her family has too many secrets. These secrets have to do with the time-travel gene that is passed down in the family. Everyone is certain that Gwen's cousin Charlotte has the gene, but when Gwen suddenly finds herself in London at the end of the 19th century, she knows right away that she was the one born to be a time traveller, not Charlotte. But now she has to forge an alliance with Charlotte's arrogant boyfriend, Gideon de Villiers, in order to clear up the biggest secret of her family history. And she learns that one should not fall in love between the times. For that really makes things complicated! (Zlín Film Festival)

I appreciate that the Germans took a young adult fantasy and actually filmed it. They deserve thanks for their effort. It’s a pity, however, that it ended with the effort and they turned the unique fantasy for young adults into a chick flick for teenagers with a dash of supernatural. Some good moments, some literally deserving of a few slaps. Overall average and I will think hard whether to watch the other installments.
