Before the creation of the Department of Documentary Film at FAMU, documentaries were studied as part of the second-year curriculum of the Department of Film and Television Directing – which is also where this reportage on the craft of marquee painters was made. The large pictorial marquees for movie premieres were made in a special painting workshop at Barrandov Studios. The film takes a nostalgic look at an applied art whose days of glory are long past.
