Trip (Dane DeHaan) on nuori mies, joka työskentelee roudarina Metallican live-keikalla. Konsertin räjähdettyä käyntiin Trip passitetaan kaupungille suorittamaan erittäin kiireistä tehtävää. Trip tekee työtä käskettyä ja lähtee matkaan. Yllättävän tapahtumaketjun seurauksena yksinkertainen tehtävä muuttuu surrealistiseksi seikkailuksi.
