From Germany comes this deft mixture of European sensibilities and the modern horror film. Paula (Franca Potente of RUN LOLA RUN) is an ambitious German medical student who has recently gained acceptance into a top anatomy class in Heidelberg taught by a prestigious professor whom she has long idolized. Immersed in her studies, Paula is soon horrified to discover that several of her classmates have died under mysterious circumstances, and it is not long before she and a group of fellow classmates discover a secret society of students that regularly performs autopsies on live specimens! I quite like these conspiracy movies, all the lodges, secret Nazi experiments, hiding the facts by powerful organizations, etc. -) That's where Anatomy really suited me. The cinematography even shone in places and the direction was brisk enough. What I would likely fault, though, is the odd handling of tension – a thriller should escalate tension, in my opinion, and here it rather comes and goes in waves, not to mention the rather over-the-top ending and an immortal villain. But otherwise I had fun.
