On kesä 1988, ja kaksi täysin erilaista miestä saa yhteisen työtehtävän. Heidän tulee maalata maastopalon vaurioittamaan tiehen keskiviiva Teksasin takamailla. Mitä tapahtuu, kun rauhallinen Alvin (Paul Rudd) ja hänen tyttöystävänsä hulttioveli Lance (Emile Hirsch) eivät kuitenkaan voi sietää toisiaan? Kasettisoittimessa soi väärä musiikki, eikä toisen pärstän tuijottaminen päivästä toiseen nappaa. Hulvattomien riitojen ja piikittelyjen alta pilkottaa lopulta kuitenkin myös yllättävä mahdollisuus ystävyyteen. (Atlantic Film Fin.)
