englanti I would like to say in advance that I like Jiří Schelinger's songs very, very much and that I definitely have nothing against rock. But this concert was awful. Schelinger's brother is not a great singer, yet he chooses songs with pitches that he then does a bad job with (and tries to mask this with an accompanying girls' choir, making unreal sounds in the final “Holubí dům") until it hurts the ears. Who cares if his voice is similar to his brother's original when everything else is wrong? Who did we have next? Aleš Brichta, who has recently become a caricature of himself and whose renditions of “Co dělá indián" and “Kartágo" sound like a rather strange attempt at something like hard rock, and Kamil Střihavka, whom I respect as a singer with a high range, but here he sang the most drawn-out thing possible, “Ptají se lidé", which was simply awful. And finally Petr Kolář. His performance of “Šípková Růženka" was the best the concert had to offer (it's a pity that Kolář sang it once before as part of a TV variety show), but I had to keep my eyes closed so as not to see how theatrically and "heartfelt" Kolář was making his face and stretching his arms. Schelinger's original video clip of “Ptají se lidé" played over the closing credits. It's hard to say why the show's creators chose that one, since we've heard the song before, but maybe it was out of spite. Perhaps so that the viewer, if he or she hasn't realized it during the past fifty minutes, will realize how unique Jiří Schelinger was. ()
