Bepi the fisherman immigrated from Yugoslavia 30 years ago; Li arrived only recently from China, and the local language and European people are one great big unknown for her. She works and pays off her debts, so that her eight-year-old son can join her. She finds a job in a café in a small fishing community. Thus develops an unlikely friendship that might just turn into something more. The film does not moralize, but merely captures different forms of the fear of the unknown. englanti It's hard to say what attracted me to this film so much that I literally devoured every image and let myself drift on the waves of pleasant melancholy. Whether it was my sympathy for the young mother Shun Li and the aging fisherman Bepi, or the poetic shots of the sea from the picturesque Italian countryside... Be that as it may, I was moved to tears at the end and I can't really explain why. During the final flames, I had a very emotional moment gushing from somewhere deep inside me. (80%) ()

englanti The mere contrast - a Chinese woman in Italy, moreover in a small Italian town, specifically in the port - is so good that it could build quite a good drama or comedy on that premise. And that is what happened here. In terms of relationships, it's beautiful, yet slightly sad, and even though the ending might not satisfy everyone, the journey is enjoyable. ()
