Project X

Project X is by no means an exceptional or particularly good film, but when that cool party gets going, there’s no risk of getting bored (at least for the target audience). In short, it’s a very undemanding, entertaining and easy-going film, rather than a teenage alternative to the ballbusting The Hangover. PS: To voluntarily put on a film about horny middle-schoolers and then complain that it’s not smart or intellectually stimulating… well, you have to be an even bigger moron than all of the characters :-) (01.06.2012)

Half of the film, I was hoping that the bullshit those jackasses were saying after the party would get them into so much trouble that they’ve never seen the likes of it, and I’ll have a good laugh at their expense. I expected the house to burn down, but for the whole neighborhood to burn? Hats off. The idea for this film is perfect, the execution is also not bad, but convince me that you didn’t laugh at those guys’ misfortune and didn’t wish those troubles on them. (20.08.2013)

Blow up your own house, and then you will finally be cool and people will start taking you seriously. Don't worry, your parents will take it well. Mom will shed a tear, dad will silently admire you in his mind. Plus, that girl you almost cheated on is still completely crazy about you - probably because she's totally brainwashed. Your friends will get over it because... Well, okay, the conclusion is already an obvious exaggeration, but still. "Project X" has zero value as a movie and zero value as a story. If you were to compare it to movies like "American Pie," which target the same audience, everything is missing - an interesting story, some plot, characters worth rooting for or despising, or simply something. The trio, with all due respect, of idiots who throw the party of the century are truly nerds to the point of burning, silly as a broken baseball bat in the hands of a limbless baseball player. I couldn't cheer for them, I couldn't empathize with their need to have a massive party. I guess it's because I'm more of an introverted type, plus I've never participated in anything like that and I don't plan to. I know, now I'm just a bitter loser who criticizes young people wanting to have fun. Let them have fun, but if these are the movies that are supposed to tell us something, or even entertain us without a well-crafted, or at least genuinely funny, joke, it seems quite pathetic to me. I have to say, I almost regret getting into this. The "found footage" camera is completely pointless, especially when there is a typical musical background like in a normally shot film. It has no justification, it's just trying to be extremely cool and for young people. Truly never again!
