Drunkboat tells the story of a young teenager, Abe (Jacob Zachar) who manipulates the unsuspecting help of his alcoholic uncle (John Malkovich) to buy a boat from a con man named Mr. Fletcher (John Goodman) when his mother Eileen (Dana Delaney) is out of town. The story resonates with the struggle of Uncle Mort, making the story much deeper than a simple tale of a boy and his boat. Both the uncle and Abe come of age in the story. Based on Bob Meyer's original play. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)

englanti In this movie, even the dog that appears in the left bottom corner at the five-minute mark is a loser. Because even that dog is a part of the story of people who are so unlucky that the dog’s own unluckiness won’t even faze them. Unluckiness plagues the entire movie with the absolutely disarming John Malkovich as its main representative who puts on such a show at the end that it’s enough to make this movie a must-watch. ()
