Retkikunnan, jota johti kuuluisa tutkimusmatkaaja Jonathan Marchant, katoamisen jälkeen kaksi kongolaista kalastajaa löytävät repun ajelehtimasta joesta. Repun sisällä on nauhoja ja kiintolevyjä, jotka sisältävät yli 100 tuntia videomateriaalia. Materiaali kertoo tarinan retkikunnasta, joka lähti jäljittämään Mokele Mbembeä, myyttien hirviötä, jonka uskotaan polveutuvan dinosauruksista – mutta ennen kaikkea se kertoo retkikunnan katoamisesta... A traditional (adventure) horror found-footage expedition in the jungle, only that instead of ghosts, witches, the yeti or a killer, we get dinosaurs. The setting is nice, the effects not so, but that doesn’t matter because, fortunately, the creators don’t show the prehistoric creatures too much. What makes the film below-par are the characters. It’s impossible to build a positive relationship with any of them. And the last ten minutes are such crystal clear cliché after cliché that it’s too much, even for the genre. Is this is the best live action film with dinosaurs since Jurassic Park? Yeah, no doubt, but the value of that claim is ridiculously low.
