One Winter Behind God's Back

In the year of change in Eastern Europe, in a remote village, the regular movie show, scheduled once a week, terminates due to the motor courier's being killed in an accident. The children find the scattered film containers, and along with the old reels left in their place they play the films they have seen so often before. During the long winter, Ladu, an adoloscent movie-fanatic, and Lina, the innkeeper's wife, glue together the old film fragments, thus making a new film, in which the villagers „re-write" their lives. Once again, the suppressed passion revives between Siniak, the taciturn woodcutter and Lina. They run away. Siniak falls into an abyss, Lina becomes dumb. In spring the people learn from a truck driver about the collapse of the regime. Ladu leaves with the truck driver for America, and wants to become a film director. (Budapest Film)
