The Mystery of the Chinese Carnation will captivate Czech viewers thanks to the familiar faces from Czechoslovak cinema, the setting in Prague and the generally fast-paced plot, which culminates during the last quarter of an hour. As is usually the case with older films, the ravages of time are noticeable here, especially in the action scenes. On the other hand, the film has some quite funny and even bizarre scenes that were perhaps unintentional. Besides that, I like the suggestive acting of Klaus Kinski.
