An adventure Western set in New Zealand at the time of the Gold Rush in 1860. Young Charlotte Lockton has settled in the North Island with her wealthy husband, David. But her life's dreams are shattered when he's murdered on their farm and her baby son is kidnapped. A month after paying a ransom, frustrated with the apathy of the authorities and distrusting of her staff, she decides to track him down on her own. And so begins her journey through the wilds of an untamed New Zealand, at the beginning of the Gold Rush. She comes into contact with Villains, Suffragettes, Hustlers, Chinese Grocers and native Maori Warriors. She joins a convoy of Whores, Dancers and Ex-cons heading for the rough mining community of Gold Town. There she meets Kristian Morgensen, the owner of the town, a man who is key to uncovering the truth behind the disappearance of her son, forcing her to fight to the death for what she holds most dear. Alice Eve in a tough vengeful character, like a Charlize Theron from the Wild West. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have the acting chops, but you have to appreciate the effort. Fortunately, however, she is in a film that helps her inmensely. When it comes to the shots of the New Zealand landscape accompanied by weaving music, it's great, but when it comes to something like the script and the motivation of the characters, it's a disaster, totally pulled out of thin air, not a modern western with all the trimmings. An affair only for fans of the female lead, who looks great as always.
