The former general and current mayor of the eastern Slovak village of Zemplínske Hámre, whose population is slowly dying out, refuses to reconcile himself to this dismal fact and decides to take the fate of the village into his own hands. He organises a major introductory get-together where he is determined to pair off young single men and women. In her situational documentary presented at this year’s Berlinale, director Erika Hníková watches to see how successfully the mayor fared. (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)

englanti The most interesting thing about the movie is that something like Zemplínske Hámre actually exists and the film presents it to us. Even today, such a phenomenon is strange, on the other hand, it shows that human socialization is sometimes simply problematic. However, the documentary itself doesn't really say anything crucial, it doesn't judge, it just observes, which I find a pity, and that's why the movie didn't grab me so much. ()
