In this family comedy, Jim Carrey is Mr. Popper, a driven businessman who is clueless when it comes to the important things in life – until he inherits six penguins. Popper’s penguins turn his swank New York apartment into a snowy winter wonderland – and the rest of his life upside-down. Filmed on a refrigerated soundstage with real Gentoo Penguins, MR. POPPER’S PENGUINS is a contemporary adaptation of the classic book. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)

englanti Another addition to the ranks of mediocre animal comedies. Jim Carrey is a good entertainer, but unfortunately he didn't score much here. I expected a lot of slapstick and funny movements from him. Instead, there were barely a few jokes. Fortunately, there is no limit to the cuteness of penguins, so there was something to watch. I remain unsurprised by anything but only rolled my eyes a few times. And thanks for the final song! 3 stars. ()

englanti Childish, yes, but fortunately that doesn't mean in this case that it’s not entertaining. Mr. Popper and his penguins are quite a likable bunch, which amused even me, and that's saying something for a contemporary comedy with animals. Jim Carrey restrained himself this time, which is a good thing, because I enjoyed every gag in his performance all the more (for example, the scene with the mobile phone in the blender made me roar with laughter, the silhouette of the penguin swimming through the bathroom door, etc.). The penguins, though digital, are also good. Their wandering around the city (accompanied or not) has some good ideas, and if it weren't for a few unnecessary "jokes" with their, um, excretion, I wouldn't have a single complaint. But who I liked as much as them, in fact, quite possibly even more, was Ophelia Lovibond in the endearing role of Popper's secretary, who says as many words beginning with the letter "P" in her sentences as her dictionary will allow (and I have to admit that our subtitles did a good job with this joke). englanti An undemanding comedy that deserves attention, especially for a family afternoon. Children will be excited about the incredibly cute and properly crazy penguins, while parents will be thrilled by the fact that their children will give them a moment of peace. They can relax and maybe even enjoy Jim Carrey, who is still an excellent comedian to me and his facial expressions, movements, just everything he is capable of, truly amaze me. His range of physical comedy is incredibly vast and I admire him for that. The film "Mr. Popper's Penguins" won't leave much of an impression on you, of course, it ends with the necessary happy ending. It's not great art, but at least you'll find out that Angela Lansbury, aka Jessica Fletcher, is still alive and very agile at the age of 87.
