Quarantine 2: Terminal

Quarantine 2 is a great example of how low expectations can make a film good. Where the Spaniards delivered a playful, original and completely different sequel, the Americans went another way. They changed the setting (though I believe that if the story took place only on a flying plane, with a good screenwriter it could be a lot more interesting), they didn’t use the Blair Witch style (which makes the film a lot more run-of-the-mill) and they took the mythology in a different direction. And yet, Quarantine 2 is more similar to its predecessor than REC 2 is to REC 1. If it was an ambitious film, I wouldn’t be satisfied, but considering that it was supposed to go straight to video (and that cinemas got only a ridiculously limited number of copies), it should be compared to stuff like 30 Days of Night: Dark Days or Mirrors 2, and from it, Quarantine 2: Terminal comes on top.
