Cheyenne (Sean Penn) on Dublinissa rojalteillaan elävä entinen rock-tähti. Vielä viisikymppisenäkin ekstrovertti mies pukeutuu goottityyliin. Cheyenne ei ole vuosiin ollut puheväleissä isänsä kanssa. Isän heikko kunto saa kuitenkin pojan palaamaan New Yorkiin. Siellä hänelle paljastuu, että isä on nuorena miehenä kokenut hirveän nöyryytyksen, kantanut kaunaa koko ikänsä ja janonnut kostoa pakkomielteisesti. Cheyenne päättää jatkaa siitä, mihin isän kostoretki jäi. Edessä on matka halki Yhdysvaltojen. Matkan tahdin määrää Cheyenne itse. (Future film)
