Typically for his directorial style, Miguel Gomes lets reality and fiction intermingle in his second feature film as he captures on camera the specific summer atmosphere in Portuguese backwoods with all the locals and their slightly comic rituals. This film with an interestingly problematic production history was to a large extent improvised due to insufficient financing. (Summer Film School)
