Men in Black 3

Will's unflagging comedic talent and Brolin's perfect copy of Jones' gesticulation, diction, and facial expressions, are all beaten down by a flimsy script and routine direction that doesn't take the best from the characters, the 1960s, or anything else. With the exception of the "Mommy, the President is drinking my chocolate milk!" joke, it’s terribly boring. (10.09.2012)

Men in Black is a legend that was created by the director Barry Sonnenfeld. Barry reminds me of Burton and his movies. They also cooperate often, just like in this very movie and in any case, it’s a shame that Barry doesn’t film as many movies. However, I was really excited to see Men in Black 3. I remember how I used to rent the first one at a video rental shop and downright indulged in it. I rented it each and every time I didn’t have anything else to watch as a young fella. The sequel was a bit weaker, but that was to be expected. It was still fun, even though it wasn’t “it” anymore. And then the third movie was a pleasant surprise that completely reverses Tommy Lee Jones’ story basis and it basically gets rid of it for about a half of the entire movie. Then there’s the story itself, which has fairly decent plot twists. I must say that considering the ending and the fact that this is a third movie, it was really well done. I had fun, I relaxed, I finally saw Will Smith once again… what more could I possibly want from a third movie of any saga from any world?This was truly well beyond average. (06.06.2013)

I don't like MiB, I never enjoyed it very much and I went to see the third film out of professional duty. The first third is tragic - the screenwriter on the set who wrote the dialogues for the characters a little in advance must have been very lethargic. Then Will jumps through time, Josh shows up, and I enjoyed myself ever since. There aren't many jokes in the film, but some of them are great and intelligent (blacks who don't steal cars, Warhol's last sitar concert...). But when Will meets Josh, a strange thing happens wherein MiB starts tugging at my heartstrings. In addition, unlike the second film, they have a pretty nice and only moderately dull story, and from the aesthetics of the 90's they are able to extract pastel oomph and several miraculous events, which must mainly impress American audiences. The simplicity seemed contagious to me, as did a certain intimacy and focus on the relationship between the two guys in black. The final twist is not done in such a way that it’s pulling your leg so that the director can show the audience an additional trick. BTW, I feel that Sonnenfeld has relatives in space and that he sent them money from the budget. But I was satisfied for the 180 crowns I spent on it. (31.05.2012)

It took ten long years for the third MiB to get a chance to make amends for the disastrous no. 2. And they succeeded. Decent entertainment, good jokes, an interesting idea with time travel (although the story has logic holes in it like a sieve), fine Will and superbly cast Josh Brolin. T.L. Jones seems like he’s here just from a sense of duty, but never mind that. The majority of the movie sits on young K. Otherwise I was pleased that the dubbers from part one were hired again for this movie. (19.07.2012)

A couple of good lines, the talented comedian Will Smith with his captivating spontaneity, Boris The Animal and a superb impersonation by Josh Brolin, that's about it. Otherwise, it is is a mediocre and pointless threequel that essentially lacks any greater ambitions, neither visual nor intellectual. I don't deny my relatively skeptical view towards the whole franchise, but after the first one, no other installment entertains me anymore. (25.04.2013)

Lots of humor, dozens of various gorgeous aliens from the workshop of Rick Baker, the sensational Will Smith, the unrivalled Tommy Lee Jones and the awesome Josh Brolin as his younger self. Yes, the plot again revolves around saving the planet, but the time travel makes it original and very entertaining. I'm not sure if Barry Sonnenfeld and co. are planning a fourth installment, but I don't think it's necessary anymore. The trilogy was brought to a very dignified conclusion (the beautiful finale!).__P.S. The joke about the president drinking cocoa was almost lethal. (28.09.2012)

If you run out of ideas in the present, time travel can throw in some plus points, and that's what the third Men in Black did. Another adventure of "J" and "K" that offers a decent premise that, in my opinion, was not used to its full potential. The main villain has a properly disgusting look on the one hand, but on the other, I found him reprehensibly uncharismatic. Josh Brolin was a great past version of Tommy Lee Jones, while Will Smith tries to add in some "juice" here and there, but it mostly fizzles out quickly. Michael Stuhlbarg's character could rival Paul Newman with his eyes and was pleasantly alien. Another thing that bothered me at times were the blatantly artificial scenes. As a result, MiB3 is not funny, action-packed, or sci-fi enough, though the mild plot twist at the end did make the film a little better. A solid three stars! (05.03.2021)

Smith gives a decent performance, then there are a few good jokes, but otherwise the whole movie is completely ruined by a bad script. One of the biggest disappointments of the year for me. Barely 2 stars. (24.09.2012)
