Oscar®-palkitun elokuvantekijä Michael Mooren uusi dokumentti kysyy – huumorilla ja rohkeasti – mikä on hinta, jonka Amerikka maksaa rakkaudestaan kapitalismiin? Vuosia sitten, rakkaussuhde vaikutti niin viattomalta. Tänään amerikkalainen unelma näyttää kuitenkin ennemminkin painajaisunelta, sen hinnan maksavat tavalliset perheet työpaikoillaan, kodeillaan ja säästöillään. Moore vie katsojan koteihin, joissa elämä on kääntynyt ylösalaisin ja etsii selityksiä mm. Washingtonista. Hän löytää liiankin tuttuja merkkejä rakkaussuhteesta, joka on mennyt pahalla tavalla pieleen: valheita, hyväksikäyttöä, petoksia... Ja 14 000 työpaikkaa menetetään joka päivä. Capitalism: A Love Story tutkii globaalin talousromahduksen syitä ja seurauksia. (SF Film Fin.)

englanti I consider Moore's film to primarily be a political pamphlet with everything that pertains to this genre in both a positive and negative sense. It is absolutely not fair, balanced, or reconciling. It aims to influence public opinion in the United States and it is primarily intended for this market. Without a more intimate knowledge of the social context in which it was created, the viewer cannot fully understand it. The film was made, for example, as a counterbalance to the news coverage of the influential television station FOX TV or the conservative American religious right, which owns a number of radios and television stations. Moore focuses on influencing numerous uneducated American voters, who have a world view on the level of Homer Simpson, and who are easily manipulated, and their votes have repeatedly helped the American Republicans win elections. From a film perspective, the film is one of the weaker ones that Moore has made so far, although some satirical jabs and jokes can be enjoyed by Central Europeans. Overall impression: 55%. ()

englanti Michael Moore is biased, there's no doubt about that. However, on the other hand, he is someone who tries to show us that things are wrong in the world and tries to demonstrate to us exactly what isn't working. Plus, he's funny and he's very caustic about it. For me, his documentaries are just fantastic, and this one also proves it to me. His thoughts are quite consistent with mine. ()
