In the wake of the 2005 terrorist bombings, Elisabeth (two-time Academy Award®-nominee Brenda Blethyn), a widow from a small farming community, travels to London in search of her missing daughter. As she cautiously navigates a world unlike her own, she repeatedly crosses paths with Ousmane (Silver Berlin Bear-winner Sotigui Kouyaté), a Muslim man attempting to locate his missing son. Before long, Elisabeth and Ousmane come to the shocking realization that their children share a connection, and if they have any hope of finding answers, they must put aside their cultural differences and work together. englanti London River is a sensitive and spiritually mature film that does not criticize anyone (terrorists) or anything (politics), but only sincerely sympathizes with ordinary people and their pain from the meaningless loss of their loved ones. Brenda Blethyn does not need commentary, Sotigui Kouyaté bewitches with his individualistic expression, and together this disparate duo creates an unforgettable clash of emotions and attitudes, as well as mutual understanding. A powerful little film. ()
