Juonikuvaukset(1)

Peter Sellers on "loistovedossa" (Cue) onnettomuusalttiina komisario Clouseauna - mitä mielikuvituksellisimmissa valepuvuissa, "raivokkaan hauskoissa karatekohtaamisissa" (Time) arvoituksellisen Caton (Burt Kwouk) kanssa ja seksikkään venäläisvakoojattaren (Lesley-Anne Down) vaarallisesti vietävänä. Raivostuttavan epäpätevän Clouseaun hulluuden partaalle ajama ex-ylikomisario Dreyfus (Herbert Lom) hallitsee tuomiopäivänvekotinta ja uhkaa tuhota maailman. Hänen ainut vaatimuksensa? Nähdä Clouseau kuolleena! Mutta hänen arkkivihollisensa tyhmäksi onneksi palkkamurhaajat eivät tunnu onnistuvan tehtävässään – vaikkakin Clouseau saattaa hoitaa homman itse loppuun kömpelöllä käytöksellään... (SF Film Fin.)

englanti I saw the Pink Panther when I was a child, then when I was a teenager and then I watched it for the third time as an adult. It’s not a bad idea to watch these situational comedy films that draw on the best era of silent slapstick comedies. It’s still as much fun and I believe that it won’t change even once I’ll have reached retirement. ()

englanti There are not many film series where the best part is the one where the creators push the gags to the absurd and let imagination reach unprecedented heights. Clouseau, Kato, and Dreyfus are at their best - scenes with Quasimodo, conquering the castle, and laughing gas belong in the golden treasury of comedy. ()

englanti The imaginary crown of all Pink Panthers, which will probably never find a worthy heir. The gags are never-ending, and although there are some that fade significantly on a second viewing, they are fully compensated by a number of moments whose genius will never fade – the opening confrontation with Kato, in particular, is one of my favourite comedy scenes ever. From a more serious point of view, it's terrible bullshit, but that's just part of Clouseau... 85% ()

englanti Unbelievable. The introduction of the film represents perhaps the most concentrated situational dementia imaginable, the undiluted clown debility and the mischief of the general fools. It is all so sweetly predictable and all so utterly devastating that I (again) wallowed in laughter and admired the overview through which Sellers maintains escalation even in the most stupid escapades (in the introductory sequence in the insane asylum, for example). After a famous parody of British detective stories, the ebullience of The Pink Panther Strikes Again weakens a bit to lukewarm values, the weak-minded story is just there as filler, and God knows, even the Munich October Fest was not successful. However, the castle ending fixes everything with the return of real fire from the declining humor. In terms of sketches, probably one of the most culminating crime comedies, moreover decorated by the celestial comedy of Master Sellers. ()

englanti After the second and first film, this one is my third favorite of the series. Clouseau is once again on a rampage, and the opening visit to the lunatic asylum, where the (chief) inspector has driven the poor Dreyfus, suggests big things. The best thing about this film is that Peter Sellers virtually never disappears from the picture (and when he does, it's not for long), gags abound, and the script has such perfect trumps up its sleeve, such as the investigation at the Fassbenders' house, the conquest of the castle, or the dentist disguise. The opening credits are traditionally great, not to mention Mancini's music. ()
