Doctor Pena (Giancarlo Esposito) is a cryptozoologist who has dedicated his life to studying the mysterious and elusive mythical monster, the chupacabra. When he finally manages to capture one on a remote Caribbean island, he stands to become a legend himself within the scientific community--that is, if he can manage to get the beast back to the US. He smuggles it on board a cruise ship, but it's not long before curiosity gets the better of a couple of porters, who open the crate to see what's inside; the released creature proceeds to go on a rampage, turning the ship into an enormous bloodbath. The S.W.A.T. team is called in to counter the crisis, but ultimately the heroic captain Randolph (John Rhys-Davis), and his daughter might be the only ones who can save the day. englanti The American film Chupacabra Terror is a cheap B-movie, and unfortunately in this case the defamatory label is entirely appropriate. There's nothing good about it and even the monster looks tragic because they decided that it would be played by a guy wearing a full-body latex mask. And that simply can't work for me with the Chupacabra, because it's extremely ordinary and completely unimaginative. Although I suppose special effects would be even worse. ()
