Enjoyably wacky (in the French way) and fresh “slapstick” that evokes the feeling that the actors did quite a lot of improvising. Sophisticated plot construction is the last thing this film would stand on. On the contrary, its primary foundation comprises a great idea and the degree of likability with which its unconventional and, until “the problem” occurs, wonderfully functional and contentedly “bohemian” family wins you over. However, if that family doesn’t win your sympathy, you will suffer through this film.
