It makes little sense to me why such a film was made in the first place. Perhaps to remind people that Jake LaMotta is still alive and that he is married again at the age of ninety and has been married for several years and may last until his death? William Forsythe did what he could, he even looks better in scenes where he's younger than his actual age, but trying to tackle the same material as Scorsese, even if it's a different period, just doesn't work.
