During the siege of Budapest, the nine-year-old Thali Ambrus is taken to the country, to his grandparents. His everyday life is determined by nightmares, the tough country life, the anguish caused by the aircraft noise. Overhearing a conversation one night he learns that his parents were killed by a bomb. A black parachutist is slaughtered by order of the local arrow-cross commander. One day his father, whom they thought to be dead, turns up and takes Ambrus to Szombathely, to Aunt Ilka. Here they spend most of their time in the bomb-shelter, where Ambrus meets Olgi, a little Jewish girl and falls in love with her. His warm-hearted aunt gives her shelter, too. They go out to the light together and wait for peace to come. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)
