What really irritated me were the "slapping" and "theatrical" scenes. In anime, in manga it can work, sometimes quite well, but here it was quite an ordeal for me. But otherwise quite passable. I saw the anime first, then read the manga, so nothing surprised me. Nothing new under the sun. But the music was genius (where in Nodame is it not? :-)). Maybe if I had seen this before the anime and manga, I probably would have given a higher rating. Edit: May 2014, I saw it again and kind of fell in love with it – suddenly I found out what a nice romance it is, I appreciated the story more, as well as all the slapping scenes that suddenly had a function. Overall, I enjoyed it incredibly much on a second viewing, which is why I'm upping the rating to 4 stars.
