englanti "Lady and the Lamp" is the first student film by John Lasseter, the man who co-founded the animation giant Pixar. As I have been focusing a lot on short films lately, I have chosen Pixar's films as my next target. Two DVDs have already been released with a collection of short films from this studio. Although "Lady and the Lamp" is not listed as a Pixar film, I still think it's worth paying some attention to it. It shows where John Lasseter drew inspiration from and also reveals some twisted obsession with lamps. What does he possibly see in them? The main role in this short film, which was basically only released on the second DVD collection of Pixar shorts, follows a lamp that falls off the table and breaks its light bulb. As it turns out, self-replacement is not at all simple. The film is about a minute and a half long and lacks a punchline. This is because the full version is basically unavailable and has not even been fully included on the second DVD collection of Pixar shorts. In the complete version, a lady comes to the damaged shop (the one responsible is clearly indicated at the end of the available version) and chooses the one true lamp - naturally, the titular one. Even in this incomplete version, it is evident that John had a knack for humor. The lamp entertains, although it is essentially just a short grotesque. However, it does not lack ideas, and that is important. ()
