CUT AND RUN stars Lisa Blount as a reporter who, along with her cameraman, begins a story on a series of bizarre murders that soon seems to have a link to the case of their boss' missing son (Willie Aames). What genre is this? Adventure splatter? Two reporters go into the jungle, where some gangs are making cocaine and another gang – Indians, led by the likable cutthroat Berryman – chops them up into sausages and steals the coke for their boss. Missing in Action meets Cannibal Holocaust? Pretty much. Cut and Run serves up shootouts, escapes, flights in airplanes, brutal rapes, severed heads and intestines spilling out of a slashed abdomen, alternating with nicely composed shots of beautiful waterfalls. Holy shit! The most bewildering thing about the whole production is the participation of some rather well-known actors, particularly the newcomer Eriq La Salle.
