A Dirty Carnival

It's nice when everything works the way it's supposed to in a movie. When it's well written, well acted, the director does a fantastic job. After that, it's up to the audience to accept it. The script has the necessary depth, it doesn't rush anywhere, it waits for the right moment for each revelation. And that's just as well. The story unravels slowly and makes the viewer genuinely interested in how it will all turn out. In-seong Jo is one of a handful of actors who plays gangsters as if he had grown up with them. From the way he walks, to the way he talks, to the way he fights. But the other actors were equally convincing. In short, almost everything about this film was successful. And if I were a lover of the genre, I would definitely go even higher with my rating. A very strong 4 stars. (06.08.2015)
