Catherine Deneuve stars in this thriller as Marianne Malivert, the elegantly wasted wife of a successful jeweler. Lost in the haze of alcoholism, Marianne hardly notices that her husband's business is headed for bankruptcy and has never suspected him a criminal until he gives her five obviously stolen diamonds to look after. When he turns up dead the next day, Marianne finds that the diamonds are being pursued by the De Beers cartel, her brother-in-law, and an enigmatic man named Battistelli, with whom she had an affair many years ago.
