Alarm

This movie is very interesting from an artistic perspective, and although the puppets do not have the traditional appearance that Trnka gave to Czech puppet films, they are stylish and imaginative. The film parodies the atmosphere of the Cold War, when a random observation on the surface is interpreted by the harbor commander as a periscope of a submarine, and the previously peaceful resort is suddenly filled with soldiers and military technology as if by magic. It has a humorous exaggeration and its anti-war commitment is not so straightforward as to alienate the viewer. Overall impression: 70%. (05.06.2009)
