As I already wrote somewhere, John Wayne was at the peak of his acting career. Deservedly so. Here he pleasantly surprises once again, as a tough guy, but in a comedic film, moreover, a beautifully romantic one. Capucine is a beautiful and great actress who is an excellent partner for him here and definitely doesn't let herself be overshadowed.

A very enjoyable western comedy without the piles of corpses, and it is not spoiled by the dreaded TV cropping (it is a bother, but what can you do?). John Wayne is a swashbuckler who is being hit on by a sophisticated ex-bride played by the beautiful Capucine, the likeable Stewart Granger enjoyed playing his supporting role... I was surprised that the film lasted two hours, it didn't feel like that at all.__P.S. The opening brawl in the saloon was like something out of the super fight in the Czech film Lemonade Joe. I mean that. And that's not the only similarity - the central villain, the con man, looks and acts exactly like Hogo Fogo. Coincidence?
