John Wayne on tuottanut, ohjannut ja näyttelee pääroolia tässä yhdestä Amerikan historian legendaarisimmasta taistelusta kertovassa elokuvassa. Hänen suuri unelmansa oli saada elävöittää tämä sankarillinen taistelu, joka tapahtui vanhalla lähetysasemalla nimeltä Alamo. Tämän rappeutuneen linnoituksen suojissa oli 185 miestä, muiden muassa legendaariset Jim Bowie (Richard Widmark) ja Davy Crockett (John Wayne), jotka taistelivat meksikolaisia vastaan, joita oli yli 7.000 miestä. John Wayne was not only a great actor who forever became the embodiment of principled and honorable men, but he also dabbled in other professions. The role of a producer almost seems obvious, but he also sat in the director's chair. "Alamo" was his first and actually only film where he was credited as the sole director. It's not surprising. It can essentially be said that it is Duke's opus magnum, a work he had been preparing for his whole life. Not to showcase how great of an actor he was, but primarily to showcase how aware he was of the strength of his nation, how much he recognized the need for those honorable and brave men.
