When I look back at The Ice Harvest, it's a typical neo-noir crime movie with a truly typical story, typical characters, and a typical atmosphere. the cast is star-studded, but it has one single flaw – it doesn't work for me and doesn't evoke the emotions it should. There are several reasons for this, and it must be emphasized that it's not a disaster that would cause an outcry from a film fan. It will surely find its audience, but for a genre fan, it's unoriginal, and anyone who wants to get an idea of the genre should find a film of better quality. It's the kind of film where you know there should be a witty line coming, but it doesn't come across as funny, and there should be a funny situation, but it doesn't work as it should. The quality of the dialogue is lacking, and the screenplay doesn't address some motives and situations while explaining others only in the very end. Overall impression: 45%.
