Yö on jo pitkällä. Bart (Oliver Bartelemy) saa klubilla taas kerran rähinän aikaan. Kundit heitetään pihalle. Pari tuttua mimmiä liittyy seuraan. syntyy loistoidea, niin kuin aina tuohon aikaan yöstä. Hypätään autoon ja tehdään bileistä pitkä viikonloppu Even (Roxane Nesqulda) vanhempien kartanolla. Kartano ei olekaan ihan tavallinen paikka. Jacuzzin sijasta piehtaroidaan kuumissa lähteissä. Tohtoroituja nuken raatoja ilmestyy joka paikasta. Peli lähtee käsistä monella tavalla. Monikansallinen Pariisin bilejengi kohtaa maaseudun alkuasukkaat. Kulttuurien vuorovaikutuksesta kehittyy pirullista menoa. (PAN Vision Publishing)

Satan is a not exactly conventional Christmas film for a select audience. Though it follows a classic horror formula a la The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, it is conceived as a low-budget crazy comedy. Concern and disgust are present to a lesser extent than in similar horror movies; the film cannot be taken too seriously. However, the retarded rednecks have a certain appeal, and Vincent Cassel portrays his likable eccentric with real gusto.

I quite like this kind of films (and I mostly don’t care that they aren’t original), but this one just didn’t work. The yokels are great, but there’s something wrong when the most likeable character in a film is a psychopathic madman. Really, it’s hard to imagine a worse choice for the heroes, and before Vincent Cassel showed up, I was seriously considering turning the film off. On top of that, it’s quite boring for most of the time and the final carnage is not even that interesting. Besides the characters, what drove me mad was the music score, it’s the kind of stuff that makes me run away when I hear it under normal circumstances. Definitely a disappointment and one of the worst redneck movies I’ve ever seen.
