The Valley

The men of the remote village have been taken away by the war, there are only women and children left behind. One day the Yehovist hermit from the hill turns up together with four deserters. Although one risks capital punishment for hiding them, the leader among the women tells them to choose a partner for themselves. Those, left without a man are envious, and when the front-line comes closer, a new decision is made. The men have to sleep in different homes every night, so that nobody could escape being an accomplice. The jealous Ilona's betrayal brings the soldiers into the village, however, and they massacre everybody they can find. The victims are buried on the hill by Gábor, and he is joined by the mourning men of the village having just returned. (jakelijan virallinen teksti)
