Set on a post-apocalyptic Earth, this fantasy adventure follows the story of Avatar, the kindly, eccentric sorcerer-ruler of Montagar, a rainbow paradise inhabited by elves and fairies. Avatar’s evil brother, Blackwolf, dominates Scortch, a bleak land of goblins and wraiths. When the power-hungry Blackwolf attacks Montagar, Avatar, accompanied only by a spirited young woman and a courageous elf, must enter the darkness of Scortch to save his world. englanti Brilliant oddity and honorary member of www.badmovies.org. It's something between a fairy tale and a fantasy story, which has the same poetry as if Alejandro Jodorowsky had made his obscure version of Lord of the Rings with his cinematic vision. Against the backdrop of the irreconcilable clash of two worlds – the world of Technology (mutants) and the world of Magic (fairies, elves) – there are some bizarre characters from Bakshi's twisted fantasy: the evil sorcerer Blackwolf with his penchant for Nazi ideology and symbols, his mutant assassins with laser rifles and gas masks for faces, a goat-skinned fairy in a negligee, elves, Vikings, lizards, tanks, barbed-wire trenches and more. Add to this the garishly coloured cuts from other war films, the occasional inappropriate use of jazz music, and the chaotically told story, and you have something original and obscure that is definitely worth seeing. If it’s true that the resulting work is a reflection of the artist's soul, that of Bakshi must be the case for a shrink. ()
