Juonikuvaukset(1)

Based on the novel by Richard Neely. Saint Tropez, 1975. Julie Wormser and her lover, writer and neighbour Jeff Marle, plan the assassination of her wealthy husband Louis, loud-mouthed, hard-drinking, and impotent. She hits him, and leaves the rest of the task to Jeff. Julie finds herself alone the following day, and becomes therefore prime suspect. Where is Louis' body? Where is Jeff? Is there any secret beyond a door? (Moscow International Film Festival)

englanti I watched this film in a different version with a number of other people in the audience. Some fell asleep, and some took pictures, but in the end, we all giggled. Why? The extremely slow pace of the narrative, the contrasting absurdly contrived dialogues, the unintentionally funny details, the plot twists like something out of a Malhorn revue, the aged acting of the majority of the ensemble and the eternal truths of life presented without a hint of irony. The only timeless positive of this crime drama is Romy Schneider and her portrayal of Julie Wormser. Romy not only doesn't hide any of her charms from the viewer but is in fact so fascinating that she carries almost the entire film on the intimate transformations of her protagonist. Which is amazing. Looking at her gestures, delicate facial expressions, and often challenging attitudes, we can tend to forget Jean Rochefort's overly wanting humorous etudes, the duo of investigators who spend every spare moment together and get to the bottom of the case against the backdrop of lavish dinners or games of chess or petanque. She also has some anxiety over the unbalanced game of her husband, her lover, and her husband's lawyer (all of whom want her). Therefore, I was once again driven to the edge of my seat and enjoyed the solo of the actress at the expense of the film as a whole. ()
