englanti When Roy Hill made The Sting in 1973, it was a stylish genre film that, thanks to its quality screenplay and exclusive casting, including directorial precision, became a classic and one of the most commercially successful titles of the decade. It's no wonder that Hollywood wanted to make the most of the concept and the studio decided to go for a sequel. Given that there was hardly anything left of the original team, it's more like a remake. The plot is set in a somewhat different environment, but the basic scheme of The Sting remains essentially the same. However, both films clearly show that the outcome of a movie depends on the polished details. In the end, The Sting II is not a disappointment, let alone a catastrophe, but the fact that to this day it has been rated by 136 fans compared to the 20,000 of the original film speaks for itself. To say that the actors in this film are of a second category wouldn't be fair, as they perform well and some of them have had long and successful careers, but they simply don't belong in the top tier. The same can be said about all other aspects of the film. The Sting II is definitely worth watching, and overall it's a likable retro film, just don't compare it to its famous original. Overall impression: 60%. ()
